Why do I need a Capsule Endoscopy?
The primary reason for capsule endoscopy is to examine the small bowel in your gastrointestinal tract. Some of the reasons for having a capsule endoscopy include:
iron deficiency anaemia (lack of iron in the body)
obscure gastrointestinal bleeding (bleeding from a point not reachable by a traditional endoscope)
suspected coeliac disease and inflammatory bowel diseases
abnormalities such as polyps (small growths), seen on CT or MRI scans.
